it’s time we get going
Enough has been said its time we get going, our house is a mess we waste without knowing.
Let's speak with our minds, but think with our hearts, language is pointless if it rips us apart.
Our hands are soft there cleaner than earth, grab hold of yourself and grab hold of the dirt.
walk reflections: walnut, mississippi
After finishing up filming in Cane Creek, Alabama, one of our next stops along the rural highway toward Memphis was Walnut, Mississippi, a small community of around 800 folks. Within a few minutes of pulling into the parking lot of the town baseball fields, a friendly guy named Chase, who it turns out was the head of the Parks Department, came over to say hi.

The warm humid breeze of rural Oklahoma reminds me of the shock to my body two months ago when I joined the walk in northwestern Alabama, near Florence. Skin covered in moisture, either exuding from inside as sweat during the day or condensing as dew at night. My body is now fairly adapted to this environment, or at least I have habitually gotten used to it and it no longer attracts my attention.
getting to the root of the plastic pollution problem
Around the beginning of the 1990s, public opinion began to turn sharply against plastic. For the preceding several decades, litter had become a noticeable problem around the world's beaches and highway medians, and it was not a good look. Sensing potential backlash and scandal, the beverage and packaging industries—the source of all this plastic—responded with massive investment in recycling campaigns, and advertising to promote them.
